These damn things are so ugly. The first time I caught one was in my little boat in a tributary on Cape Cod. I didn’t know what the hell it was and nearly just cut the line because I thought it was some sort of mutant. Oh, it’s an Oyster Toadfish. (Wikipedia: The oyster toadfish, Opsanus tau, also known as the ugly toad, oyster cracker, oyster catcher, and bar dog, is a Northwest Atlantic species of fish of the family Batrachoididae. The maximum length of this toadfish is 43.2 cm, but they infrequently surpass 38 cm.)
